First Aid Kit for travelers

Students in 5th grade recently completed a first aid assignment.  Many created a first aid kit for their home or car.  Others researched and created posters or presentations on avalanche safety, frostbite, allergies and hypothermia.  Here is a recent article about first aid kits for holiday travelers. Safe travels to everyone on the road this holiday season!

Tobacco Presentation

Cynthia Redfern, DCSD Tobacco Grant Coordinator, visited TTE to deliver an important message about the dangers of using tobacco products to all 4th and 5th grade students.  Her presentation included a demonstration using two sets of pig lungs.  One set was a healthy, pink set of lungs and the other was a black, unhealthy set that had been exposed to tobacco smoke. The students compared the physical features of each set of lungs as well as the amount of air each set was able to take in.

Students pledged to be tobacco free, and here are some reasons they gave:
"It can damage my body from head to toe."
"It can hurt others and effect your body."
"I don't want my lungs to turn black."
"It would be hard to breath."

Welcome!

Welcome to the TTE Health Blog!  I'll be sharing information about health classes at Timber Trail and the wonderful things students are working on.  In addition, I'll post interesting information, articles, and recipes that come my way.  Enjoy!
