Tobacco Presentation

Cynthia Redfern, DCSD Tobacco Grant Coordinator, visited TTE to deliver an important message about the dangers of using tobacco products to all 4th and 5th grade students.  Her presentation included a demonstration using two sets of pig lungs.  One set was a healthy, pink set of lungs and the other was a black, unhealthy set that had been exposed to tobacco smoke. The students compared the physical features of each set of lungs as well as the amount of air each set was able to take in.

Students pledged to be tobacco free, and here are some reasons they gave:
"It can damage my body from head to toe."
"It can hurt others and effect your body."
"I don't want my lungs to turn black."
"It would be hard to breath."
